TEDxHickory 2019 – Morganton Improv

Published by TEDxHickory on

Beginning in March 2018 as a weekly community improv workshop, Morganton Improv transitioned a couple months later into an improv and sketch comedy troupe, performing monthly at local bars. Morganton Improv creates one-of-a-kind performances based on audience suggestions. Some of the cleverest and socially awkwardest folks of Burke, Caldwell and Catawba Counties have teamed up to discover new absurdities together and keep audiences laughing, entertained, or in the very least, delightfully amused. In August 2019, Morganton Improv hosted their first festival, Foothills Comedy Festival, at the Old Rock School in Valdese. The festival featured improv groups, sketch comics and award winning stand up comedians from the Carolinas. Morganton Improv’s mission is to not only create engaging entertainment opportunities for the public, but to also create a space for aspiring improvisers and comedians in the region. Morganton Improv is very excited to host more classes and workshops in 2020 for those interested in pursuing improv, and also for community members who could use improv skills to improve their careers and everyday lives. The Morganton Improv Company players include founder Abigail Taylor, Beth Forsyth, Callie Crouch, Chet Wagner, O’Clair Alexander, Sophie Shelton, Tracy Gratton Scott and Trevor Carriere.
